“When Israel went out of Egypt, The house of Jacob from a people of strange language,
Judah became His sanctuary, And Israel His dominion.
The sea saw it and fled; Jordan turned back.
The mountains skipped like rams, The little hills like lambs.
What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, that you turned back?
O mountains, that you skipped like rams? O little hills, like lambs?
Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob,
Who turned the rock into a pool of water, The flint into a fountain of waters.”
–Psalm 114:1-8 (NKJV)
Have you been to an “Owambe” party with a live band and seen how they spray Naira notes and other currencies everywhere? The musician can call you what you’re not and give you a title that is not yours in praise. Some people end up spraying all their life savings because of praise. I saw these effects of praise at my wedding party.
There’s an exceptional way you respond when you’re praised… That’s a trait we picked up from God. We inadvertently move in the direction of pleasure and praise not pain. Musicians at parties praise you to the capacity of your worth. In same vein, we give God praise to the capacity of His worth in our lives.
At parties, people forget their issues for a moment, have fun and become merry in that atmosphere of praise and merriment. Hence you can’t praise God effectively if you don’t forget your issues, neither will you if you lack depth of His faithfulness.
Psalm 114 depicts the birth of a church and nation Israel… just as WhiteOlive came forth from Daystar. “…Out of Egypt have I called my Son” (Hosea 11:1), thus He brought Israel out of slavery. He set up a tabernacle among them.
In show of His power He also divided the Red Sea and Jordan also parted before the children of Israel. The earth shook when He came down to Mount Sinai to give the law to Moses and He made water flow out of the rock. He gloriously fed Israel with Manna and Quail in the wilderness. A mighty pillar of cloud led them by day and a great pillar of fire by night. Why will mountains not skip like lambs before Him? Israel came out with celebration, with power, not hidden… an open show of God’s power and might.
David danced before God in praise when the Lord’s ark was in transit (2 Samuel 6:12-23). Praise for David was a lifestyle. David had learnt to praise the Lord no matter the circumstances, even before his subjects unrestrained. In 1 King 3:4, Solomon worshiped Him with a thousand burnt offering and God could not resist such “seduction”. In Acts 16:25 Apostle Paul and Silas invited God into the prison by their praise. They didn’t do it for miracles.
Extraordinary praise to God creates a magnetic field that attracts God into your situation. Praise commits Him to take action on your behalf. When He acts on your behalf, it translates to miracles in the natural.
We just want to thank God for being good to us. His mercy endures forever. The motivation for praise needs to be pure. Thank God any which way. Just PRAISE THE LORD!!!
Psalm 67:5-6 says, “when we praise God Almighty, the earth yields her increase”. So tonight and through out this week, give God some Extraordinary Praise and watch Him moooove on your behalf.
