Understanding Wealth

The Government: “Nigerian youths are lazy!”
Nigerian youths: “Our public office holders are inept and corrupt!”

Who are your roles models? Is education a scam?

In a system where a president need not be a BSc. holder to rule a country, but you go to school, spend maybe 7, 5 or 4 years, graduate, serve your fatherland for 1 year and still be considered unemployable (Kmt). It is fair to think that education is a scam.

What then is the key to wealth? How can a young, smart and hardworking individual break into wealth? Is it just by sheer luck? Are some people specially selected and genetically wired to make wealth? Or are there backed-up principles that, when followed, do work, especially in a country such as ours?

Did you know that even the Bible stands against poverty? “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the arms to rest and poverty will overtake you” (Proverbs 24:33).

This isn’t a motivational article for you to “aspire to perspire to acquire”. I, for one, am personally tired of all those empty motivations. Anyone can talk, but it takes someone who has tried, failed and tried again to come out and back words with actions and facts. Now, those are the motivational speakers you should listen to.

What’s worse, the blatant display of ill-gotten wealth and the disregard for hardworking individuals. It’s easier for a naked girl with a butt transfer to get an endorsement and job opportunities than a hardworking lady that spent time learning a skill. The disparity is quite alarming. It might appear to be that Yahoo and the like pays, but the Bible says in Proverbs 20:17: “Food gained by fraud is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is full of gravel.”

Don’t say to yourself, thinking that our leaders are corrupt, so it’s all good. God has nothing to do with evil. Scripture says, “woe to those who call evil good and good evil.” Scams and fraud are brought on by the love of money and the lack of trust in God. Rather than trying to gain quick money which can easily disappear fast, let’s gain little by little with hard work. We should never live like this sinful world, but we should live a life of integrity.

What are the rules to wealth and what does the Bible say? You’d be surprised to find that it’s just as simple as changing certain habits you currently have and having absolute faith in GOD.

Matthew 21:22, “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

The truth is that the elements of building significant wealth – enough to live out the rest of your life – are in your hands, but they require several ingredients. You need hard work. You need smart work. You need self-control. You need patience and time. You need to be responsible for your own choices, good or bad. You need to accept your faults and the challenges of your current situation and try to make the best of the hand that you’re dealt with.

Start with spending less than you earn, invest in yourself, yes, learn a skillset. This will improve your capacity to earn, and most importantly, give yourself time. Often, we are always in a hurry that we forget to see how far we have come. If you did all of the things mentioned at the beginning of this article and still feel stuck, that means it’s your perception that needs to change. You are making progress, maybe not as much or fast as you intended, but you are and you are, by far, better than most who haven’t even tried at all.

Always remember to ask God for what you want and when you do get what you ask for, don’t forget to give God the glory. There is no limit to the petition you can send to God. His promises abound and are the same now and forever.

Stop worrying, Philippians 4:6 (AMP) says “Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God”.

Righteousness and wisdom lead to financial prosperity. You are not stuck.
